From Struggling to Imperfect – Are There Any Contenders Want to Secure the Super Bowl In the Current Year?

No major competition sells parity like the NFL: it’s the entire brand. However, after ten games in this campaign, this doesn't represent a landscape with perfect equilibrium separating contenders, pretenders, and middle-of-the-pack clubs. Rather, we see a situation where most of the league is simply sufficient.

Clear Picture in NFC

Within the National Football Conference, to some degree, the picture becomes more distinct. The Rams and Seahawks (both at 7-2) seem like the most well-rounded squads across the league, and secured overwhelming triumphs during Sunday's action. The Eagles with six wins notwithstanding their difficulties still have a deeply skilled squad across the NFL, likewise with Green Bay (5-2-1 record). The Lions also (6-3 standing), despite their uneven performances on offense and defense while managing internal staff conflicts, have proven they can defeat good teams. For each of these squads, it's straightforward to put together a route to the final game.

AFC Playoff Chaos

In the AFC however, postseason landscape is a jumbled mess. The four teams leading their divisions after ten games: Indianapolis, New England, Denver (all at 8-2) along with Pittsburgh (5-4). Take another look. Kansas City isn't there. Not the Bills. Baltimore and Cincinnati are absent. The traditional powers, featuring the league’s best quarterbacks, display either significant personnel gaps or have been hit by injuries.

Competitive Balance System

From certain perspectives, this is exactly what the league wants. Yet observing the current division frontrunners in the American Football Conference remains somewhat odd. Aspects of each franchise suggest title potential, though not comprehensively. If someone requested to finalize your AFC Championship game picks today, would you comfortably pick any of the four division leaders?

Team Breakdowns

Indianapolis Outlook

Beginning with the Colts, Daniel Jones hasn't yet achieved total collapse. However, recent performances have caused alarm. He’s back to committing turnovers and faltering under duress. He was sacked seven times versus Atlanta in the weekend game, and had a brief period where he delivered an interception and coughed up the ball thrice. This follows he turned the ball over on five occasions against the Steelers.

The Colts attack excelled during early games because Jones avoided game-changing errors. Jonathan Taylor and the offensive line mean the Colts are able to withstand periodic mistakes, as they did in Berlin. However, if Jones reverts to his historically mistake-heavy play would terminate postseason aspirations.

New England Analysis

The Patriots seem somewhat similar. Last season, they were league laughingstocks. Currently, they represent the league’s happiest surprise and the most successful franchise in the NFL following seven consecutive victories. Had it not been for committing turnover errors a winnable game against Pittsburgh, they’d be sitting at 9–1 with the top standing. Last season, they were old and slow. Now they’re youthful, quick and confident. Nevertheless, one cannot overlook the weakness of New England's opponents. They have faced the most manageable schedule in the league, and flaws have still emerged. The signal-caller has been brought down on 35 occasions – the second-most in football – and some of the shots he suffered last weekend were vicious. Over time, those hits add up.

Broncos Situation

The Broncos hold eight wins similarly, and it still feels like they're nervously waiting. The Denver signal-caller has performed unevenly, and the offense plodding, with the defense doing all the heavy lifting. Without serviceable quarterback play, Denver cannot intimidate playoff opponents. Los Angeles remains nearby in the Western division at 7-2, but the injuries affecting their protection unit will make it tough to mount a deep postseason tilt.

Pittsburgh Situation

Then we have the Steelers, surprisingly atop the Northern division despite being thumped a 25-10 defeat from the Chargers during prime time. They have a negative point differential, their defense regularly vanishes, with their quarterback's restrictions given his veteran status persistently appear. At 5-4, they're barely clinging, but Baltimore, with Lamar Jackson healthy again with manageable games ahead, have won three consecutive. It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that the Ravens have pulled the gap to just one game, but how rapidly this occurred represents criticism toward Pittsburgh's fluctuating form. That the Ravens started the season 1-5 and currently seem they should win the division reveals much about the entire AFC.

Established Contenders

The Ravens' form part of the Big Three – joined by Buffalo and Kansas City – fueled by former MVP signal-callers, who could still create the greatest concern among competitors should they reach postseason. They represent undesirable playoff matchups, however, both franchises continue to self-destruct.

Bills Struggles

Previously, the Bills were riding high following victory over Kansas City. During Sunday's action they experienced a particularly discouraging setback this year. They didn’t just lose against Miami; they suffered humiliation, losing 30-13 as visitors. It was Miami’s first win versus Buffalo in over three years.

Should you seek a perfect summary of Sunday, consider this: the quarterback converting {a quarterback sneak|a short-yardage play|a sneak attempt
