Both are being considered with the manager's job at the Scottish champions following the former manager's departure on the start of the week.

The Manager's Position on Celtic

McKenna described Celtic as "a really big soccer institution" but emphasized he is "deeply involved" of a "long-term project" with Ipswich Town.

The mid-thirties assumed control of Portman Road in 2021 and guided the team to the English top flight with consecutive elevations, but they managed only four games last campaign as they were relegated back to the second division and they currently sit 12th in England's second tier.

"I have not had any of those discussions," the London-born former Irish young player said when questioned about being on the candidate list.

"It's not something I have given any thought to, or where any part of my focus is this week.

"I have a unique position here at a remarkable club. And we're at a really important stage of the campaign. Anything external hasn't reached my awareness."

Background and Contractual Aspects

Reports indicate that McKenna would be open to speaking to Celtic given his childhood support.

"Growing up, we all have our preferences," he said when asked about these. "It's unlikely everyone has to publicly and declare what they were, but of course it's a really big sports organization."

The coach signed a fresh multi-year deal in 2024 and was asked about his alleged buyout clause.

"Throughout coaching agreements, there are things," he responded. "I don't know what my specific terms are and, were I informed, I wouldn't tell you anyway!

"I tackle this job like I will remain Town's coach indefinitely. I understand that's not always going to be the situation, but I will consistently do my best as while I remain in position."

Bellamy's Position

The former striker represented Celtic on temporary transfer from Newcastle United in the mid-2000s, but the former Welsh forward is inclined to finish the current global tournament campaign, a position that would effectively rule out the mid-forties from assuming the Glasgow position.

Wales are presently in third place in their qualifying group behind group toppers the Red Devils and second-placed North Macedonia.

Victories over the minnows and their rivals in November would book their position in the qualification play-offs, but they are virtually guaranteed of reaching that stage, due to a successful Nations League performance, even if they fail to end up their group runners-up.

Considering his current stance, Bellamy, whose contract expires after Euro 2028, would be unavailable until after the qualifying matches at the minimum.
