Supporters Urge Detainment of Man Who Grabbed Ariana Grande

Loyal fans of the actress are urging that a individual who jumped a barrier and grabbed the actress during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or expelled from Singapore.

A circulating clip depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the performers proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.

Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being led away of the gathering by security officers.

Mr Wen posted on Instagram recently that he was "free after being taken in", though legal records indicated that he was scheduled to be present on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was faced legal action.

History of Incidents

This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has disrupted a performance. His Instagram feed includes clips of him interrupting other high-profile occasions, including breaching the performance area at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the same location last winter.

"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," commented an Instagram commenter, in a response to a video Mr Wen posted of his actions.

"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" one Instagram user remarked.

Fans Show Disapproval Over the Star's Safety

Several fans accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a terrorist explosion at the end of her spring 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding many.

"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented one more message on Instagram.

Several fans also criticised security officers at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while some called for social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's content.

Reaction and Event Details

In clips circulating online, Grande seemed shocked when she was touched by the intruder. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by staff.

Grande has not commented on the incident, and the rest of the event carried on uninterrupted.

Hundreds of attendees had gathered in a crowd of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore mall, including several who had waited for as long as many hours before it began.

The film, to be released on the 21st of November, is the second of a dual interpretation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End production Wicked, which revolves around the surprising bond between two distinct witches.

The show itself is a adaptation of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.

Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who acts as the wicked witch, wore a sleek black dress featuring roses.

They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.

The previous installment, Wicked, was the top-earning film of the previous year in the UK, and earned a dozen award recognitions, securing a pair for outstanding attire and artistic direction.
