The President Calls Loved Ones of Injured National Guard Personnel to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the presidential home.

He noted that he contacted her parents and they were “heartbroken”.

Details on the Devastating Event

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her colleague, Staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Gatherings across the state have been held in their remembrance.

White House Call

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the families of both members of the state National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a tough thing, come to the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president addressed reporters. “And likewise with him, no matter the outcome.”

Community Support

Attendees came together over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both she and Wolfe had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to support public safety in the capital.

Honoring the Soldier

“She was the kind of student that teachers desired. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the principal of Beckstrom’s alma mater, told the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always willing to support those in need.”

Service details for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Measures and Policy Revisions

Officials have charged a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the Trump administration to pause asylum applications and halt granting visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, began his service in February 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the AP.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor the governor said on television.

The state’s top lawyer the attorney general told Fox News Sunday that she aimed to visit his relatives.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in mid-2023 and began her service not long after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the vigil. “Though her time ended too soon, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
